The 2009 Cambridge Film Festival doesn't start properly until 17 September, but there are several exciting outdoor events taking place before then. Last year's successful riverside screenings are going to be repeated starting on 10 September and this weekend saw the arrival of the enormous air screen in Grantchester.
The first screening was a silent disco version of Mamma Mia. "A silent what?" I hear you ask. Silent disco. As in the audience listen to the soundtrack via their own personal radio headsets. Let me tell you that hearing several hundred people singing along to a silent movie is an eerie experience…
As well as taking stills of the build up to the screening of Mamma Mia, I shot some time-lapse footage of the crowds building up. Follow the link to YouTube to see the result.
