I've got lots of fond memories of photographing weddings in the old barn at Great Wilbraham Hall. The 400-year old barn had a fantastic atmosphere, with a great quality of light inside the barn (even if there was never much of it!) and attracted lots of lovely couples. One of the first weddings to appear on my blog was at Great Wilbraham Hall barn, and I've been back there several times since. So it was a sad moment when Hamish called me just under two weeks ago to tell me that the barn had burned down.
Luckily, the great team of Simon & Hilary at Great Wilbraham Hall wasted no time in making alternative arrangements for the couples who had booked their weddings in the barn, and so Abenet & Toby's wedding went ahead as planned just a week after the fire. A great marquee has been erected in the grounds, and it suited the glorious sunshine that we had for Abenet & Toby's wedding even better than the old barn would have done. I know that the team at Great Wilbraham Hall are planned to build a new barn for weddings as soon as they can, but the marquee is going to be a great wedding venue until that's ready.
I'll post some more pictures showing how good Great Wilbraham Hall still looks without its barn, but in the meantime here's a quick highlight that caught my eye from Abenet & Toby's outdoor wedding ceremony.
