December 2013 update: I'm no longer working as a photographer

In 2009, I launched a company that makes business software for photographers, and now that company is so successful that I've regretfully had to put my photography business on hold indefinitely. You can find out more about this change on my blog.

If you're looking for a photographer, I'm still in touch with many amazing photographers and would be delighted to recommend them to you if you contact me.

Children's portrait photography seminars by Helen Bartlett

Posted in Seminars at 13:20 on 15/01/2009

My girlfriend, the talented children's portrait photographer Helen Bartlett, has got a busy teaching schedule lined up for the beginning of 2009. On Saturday, Helen will be presenting a master class at the SWPP convention. Then in February, she will be starting a series of one-day seminars on the subject of photographing children for Calumet, the professional photographic equipment store.

Helen will guide you through the highs and the lows of setting up your business and explain many of the key techniques she uses each and every day to ensure that each and every client has a stunning set of images.

* How to develop your own style by thinking through your images and what you want to achieve rather than imitating the photographer down the road.

* How to evaluate a location for the best shooting spots: be it a park, a beach or a basement flat.

* How to work with light, or lack of it, indoors and out.

* How to get the best from the children and achieve the all important family group shot.

*What to do when you hit meltdown (yes, we work with two year olds) and how to get the shoot up and running again.

* How to market your new found skills and attract new clients.

Find out more, including how to book tickets, on Helen's blog.

Jack Toye

Jack Toye is a local musician and wanted to show a strong Cambridge theme in his pictures, so we found ourselves braving the cold weather last week to take these pictures.

Jack's band, Bunbury In The Country, can be found on MySpace.

Yelena & Luke's wedding photos: The Landmark Hotel, Marylebone High St

Posted in Wedding Photography at 12:02 on 05/01/2009

Yelena & Luke came all the way from Azerbaijan to London to get married at The Landmark Hotel on Marylebone High Street between Christmas and New Year. As you can see, The Landmark Hotel is a wonderful wedding venue and Luke & Yelena's wedding benefitted from the relaxed atmosphere you always get when wedding guests don't need to move between venues for the ceremony and reception!
