December 2013 update: I'm no longer working as a photographer

In 2009, I launched a company that makes business software for photographers, and now that company is so successful that I've regretfully had to put my photography business on hold indefinitely. You can find out more about this change on my blog.

If you're looking for a photographer, I'm still in touch with many amazing photographers and would be delighted to recommend them to you if you contact me.

University of Cambridge May Bumps 2008

Posted in Commercial and PR at 17:27 on 23/06/2008

The May Bumps is one of the most visually exciting events in the University of Cambridge's calendar. Unlike the annual Boat Race that pits Oxford and Cambridge's boat crews against each other in one decisive race, the May Bumps takes place over four days as each college's boats battle each other to advance further up the river. Here are some of my favourite images from the afternoon I spent taking pictures on the river Cam.

Spectators line the Cam:

The corners see lots of excitement as boats try to cut inside each other to bump:

Why use a telephoto for sports photography when you've got a superwide lens in your camera bag?

The start of each race can be very congested:

Croquet & tennis at Selwyn College, Cambridge

Posted in Commercial and PR at 14:02 on 23/06/2008

As part of my ongoing work with Selwyn College, I've been taking pictures of summer sports. I'll have some more rowing pictures taken during the May Bumps to show soon, but in the meantime here's a selection of pictures of students playing croquet and tennis.

Jackie & Steve's wedding in Nottinghamshire

Posted in Wedding Photography at 17:43 on 10/06/2008

Jackie & Steve got married in Jackie's home village in Nottinghamshire, with a church wedding followed by a reception at Jackie's parents' house nearby. With such a great setting and so many guests there were many great moments for me to capture: these are some of my favourites.

Bruce Weber visits Cambridge to promote Let's Get Lost

Posted in Commercial and PR at 09:38 on 10/06/2008

Photographer and film maker Bruce Weber visited Cambridge at the weekend to introduce a screening of his film, Let's Get Lost, at the Arts Picturehouse. Before the screening, he enjoyed the same uniquely Cambridge hospitality that guests enjoy at the Cambridge Film Festival, including drinks at Trinity Hall College and a punt trip down the river Cam.

Here are a few of my favourite pictures from the drinks reception.

Laura & Ian's engagement portrait session in Cambridge

Posted in Portrait Photography at 18:59 on 05/06/2008

Laura & Ian came down from Manchester for their engagement portrait session, so it only seemed fitting that they were greeted by torrential rain. One of the most exciting aspects of shooting on location rather than in a studio is that you never know what you're going to get in terms of the weather, so we decided to go ahead and make a feature of it. Here are some of favourite pictures from the session.
