December 2013 update: I'm no longer working as a photographer

In 2009, I launched a company that makes business software for photographers, and now that company is so successful that I've regretfully had to put my photography business on hold indefinitely. You can find out more about this change on my blog.

If you're looking for a photographer, I'm still in touch with many amazing photographers and would be delighted to recommend them to you if you contact me.

Emily & Fleming's wedding at St John's College, Cambridge

Posted in Wedding Photography at 13:55 on 11/07/2008

Emily & Fleming came all the way from the USA to get married at St John's College here in Cambridge. St John's College made a spectacular setting for their wedding, which was an intimate gathering of some of their closest friends and family. Emily & Fleming managed to combine the very best of what Cambridge has to offer with some of their own American wedding traditions, including the most fabulous range of cakes I've ever seen at a wedding and of course the bridal portrait session I did with Emily before their wedding day.

The wedding day finished in grand style with the bride and groom being punted under the Bridge of Sighs while their guests showered them with rose petals. For those of you with a technical interest in photography, the last picture in this selection of my favourites was lit almost entirely by the guests' sparklers!

Graduation at the University of Cambridge

Posted in Commercial and PR at 15:09 on 08/07/2008

Graduation is a big event at any university, but in the case of Cambridge it stretches over three days. Each college graduates in the order of their founding (with a few exceptions that get to jump the queue) and their students process to the Senate House, led by the college Praelector. The strict dress code is supposedly enforced by fines - for each violation of the dress code during graduation, the college is fined a bottle of wine or port...

I missed my old college (Selwyn College) graduating this year, but here are Queens' College and St Catharine's College processing to the Senate House.

Emily's bridal portrait session at St John's College, Cambridge

Posted in Wedding Photography at 07:18 on 08/07/2008

This weekend's wedding at St John's College in Cambridge was special in many ways, which will become clear when I blog the wedding photos in the near future. For me, the wedding started earlier in the week with Emily's bridal portrait session in the grounds of the college. Bridal sessions are popular in the USA (home to the bride, the groom and most of the guests) and I think they should be encouraged over here - after all, it means that I get a chance to spend time photographing the bride without any of the pressures of time that you get on the wedding day itself.

Portrait photographer Helen Bartlett was kind enough to come along and help out at St John's. Here are some of our favourite pictures.

Clare & Bert's wedding: Great Wilbraham Hall, Cambridgeshire

Posted in Wedding Photography at 09:54 on 04/07/2008

Clare & Bert got married at Great Wilbraham Hall in Cambridgeshire in what I'm sure they will be delighted to hear described as a "beer-heavy" wedding. That might not sound like the usual sort of compliment you might read about a wedding, but for a wedding that featured its own specially-commissioned wedding beer then it's the highest praise.

Here are a selection of my favourite photos from Clare & Bert's wedding, including a shot of the beer menu!
