December 2013 update: I'm no longer working as a photographer

In 2009, I launched a company that makes business software for photographers, and now that company is so successful that I've regretfully had to put my photography business on hold indefinitely. You can find out more about this change on my blog.

If you're looking for a photographer, I'm still in touch with many amazing photographers and would be delighted to recommend them to you if you contact me.

Reminder: professional photography talk at Apple Store in Soho, New York

Posted in Seminars at 15:13 on 22/10/2010

I'm heading out to New York next week with Light Blue Software and Apple have kindly invited me to give a talk at one of their biggest stores while I'm out there. On Friday 29 October at eight PM, I'll be giving a talk about running a photography business on a Mac at the Apple Store in Soho.

Many thanks to Apple for being so supportive - it's not every day that you're described as a "preeminent UK wedding photographer"!

If anyone's got any questions about the talk, please get in touch.

Yaxley Hall wedding photos - Kelly & Ben's wedding

Posted in Wedding Photography at 18:08 on 18/10/2010

Kelly & Ben got married at the delightful Yaxley Hall in Suffolk. Although Yaxley Hall can accommodate larger weddings in its marquee, it's well suited to the smaller weddings that I've photographed there, including Kelly & Ben's intimate wedding day that was shared with close friends and family.

As I mentioned in last week's preview of their Suffolk wedding, Kelly & Ben's wedding day was filled with laughter and happy tears. Here's a selection of my favourite photographs from the day.

Onto Yaxley Hall for the wedding ceremony:

Finally, a special mention for Yaxley Hall's wedding butler, Richard Orton. Not only does Richard run the day brilliantly, here he is in action in the kitchen as well:

Last chance to book November's post-production workshop

Posted in Seminars at 08:28 on 15/10/2010

November is creeping up on us, which means that the post-production workshop I'm hosting in Cambridge on 8 November is nearly here. Booking closes on Friday 22 October, so get in touch now if you'd like to come along.

This intensive one-day course covers everything you need to polish your portrait & wedding images to a standard that will delight your clients. The course will explore:

Setting and exceeding client expectations.

Taking control of your workflow.

Post-production with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

Practical portrait retouching.

Producing great black & white images from digital.

Presenting finished images to your clients.

The course is suitable for both established pros and those in the process of building a photography business. Some Photoshop experience is necessary, but a catch-up session will make sure that everyone attending the course is familiar with the tools used throughout.

Everyone attending the seminar will receive a disc containing details of the techniques demonstrated, sample files and the Photoshop Actions used during the course.

The workshop is taking place at Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge which, unlike most of the Cambridge colleges, is easy to get to by car. Lunch and refreshments are provided.

Feedback from previous seminars

"Many thanks for all the effort you put into the post production seminar it was without doubt the best seminar I've been on (and I've been on quite a few). The volume of information was excellent and the day was so well structured."

"I really enjoyed your seminar and came away with lots of ideas. I was really impressed with your knowledge and skill and the amount of content you managed to get through in a day was fantastic."

"There was so much to learn and I'm dying to spend time going through it all again!"

"I had a great time yesterday and felt really motivated - thanks again for your enthusiasm and content of the course, I thought it was great."

"I really enjoyed meeting you and also got a lot from the seminar...I'll be setting myself homework!"

Suffolk wedding photographer: Kelly & Ben at Yaxley Hall

Posted in Wedding Photography at 08:13 on 12/10/2010

Yaxley Hall is one of my favourite wedding venues in Suffolk, so I was delighted to be invited back there to photograph Kelly & Ben's wedding. Although it can accommodate larger weddings in its marquee, the wedding that I've photographed at Yaxley Hall in Suffolk have all been intimate ones with 30 to 40 guests, and Kelly & Ben's was no exception. It was a day filled with laughter and (happy) tears so I'm really looking forward to being able to show more photographs from their Suffolk wedding next week, but in the meantime here's one shot from Kelly & Ben's wedding ceremony that caught my eye.
