Your wedding. Your memories. Your pictures.

Weddings vary greatly - different people, different guests, different venues, different styles. This variety is always exciting.

I take a photojournalistic approach to photographing weddings, which means that I act as an unobtrusive observer on the day. I place the emphasis on observation rather than on formal poses, producing photos that reflect the key moments and memories of your wedding day.

Working wherever possible with available light only, I take pictures that capture the freshness of the wedding as it occurs. Whilst I predominantly work in black and white, I do use colour where appropriate, and your final set of pictures will contain an evocative mixture of the two.

The next few pages introduce you to my wedding photography by explaining my approach to the major parts of the day. Because every wedding or civil partnership can be so different, they don't try to cover every detail or variation in what I offer, so please either contact me or take a look at some recent weddings if you'd like to find out more about my style.

Depending on your requirements, my partner Helen - who runs a thriving portrait photography business of her own - is able to join me to extend the photographic opportunities available to you. Unlike photographers who use assistants as second photographers, Helen and I work together as a pair of photographers who have established names for ourselves in our own right, each lending our own particular skills to your wedding day. If you want to make the most of the opportunity to create a striking set of wedding portraits or want to take advantage of the opportunity to cover two sides of the story at the same time (for example, covering both the bride and the groom's wedding day preparations), please ask me for more details on our two photographer packages.

I'm based in Cambridge, UK, but cover weddings throughout the country. I'm happy to photograph weddings of all faiths, civil ceremonies and civil partnerships.

Biography

1999: Took up photography while studying at the University of Cambridge and started taking pictures for Varsity, the university's student newspaper.

2000: Became Pictures Editor at Varsity and took on my first professional photography assignments, photographing live music for the picture agency Retna.

2001: Won the 'Best Photographer' category in The Independent's student media awards.

2002: Graduated from university and carried on photographing live music and portraits, in addition to writing studio management software for photographers and providing computer training to photographers and other creatives.

2003: Exhibitions at The Junction and the Arts Picturehouse in Cambridge.

2004: Started photographing weddings.

Present day: I now specialise in wedding photography, but I should probably be described as a "people photographer" because my work includes a mixture of wedding photography, portraiture (both for private clients as well as promotional images for actors, musicians, artists and business people) and PR (which includes my role as the official photographer of the Cambridge Film Festival).
